Objectives
1. Creating a spending plan/budget
- determining income and expenses
- developing financial goals
- developing a plan to reach financial goals
2. Examining banking/checking account basics
- discussing the benefits andresponsibiites
of a checking account
- discussing the processes involved in
maintaining a checking account -
examining factors leading to overdrafts
- practicing checkbook reconciliation
3. Discussing the basics of credit management
- exploring the advantages and
disadvantages of credit
- examining the factors involved in qualifying
for credit
- looking at ways to establish/re-establish
credit
- discussing credit reports
- examining signs of credit crisis and where
to go for help

Money Management II (can be done individually or in a classroom setting)
Objectives
1. Follow directions to balance a checkbook against a bank statement
2. Discuss the costs of NSF checks to self and society
3. Discuss the factors leading to NSF checks
4. List the steps to follow if the checkbook does not reconcile with the bank statement
5. Write the approach to follow to correct checking account problems

Objectives
1. Develop a monthly spending plan/budget
2. Develop an action plan to improve clients’ financial situation
3. Examine creditor payments and options for repayment (including repayment of NSF checks)
