Home Programs & Services Insight For Youth

Helping youth overcome problems with alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs.

WHAT IS INSIGHT?
Insight is a five week early intervention program for youth in grades 7-12 who are using and/or abusing alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs.  Insight provides information and activities that guide participants to examine how their use is affecting their lives and those around them.  Insight is often the first step in an extended intervention process. Educating youths about the consequences of alcohol and drug use reduces substance use, lowers behavior problems and criminal activity and increases success in school and other socially acceptable behaviors. COSTS:  Insight is free of charge to participants.  Program funding is provided by grants from the Drug Free Coalition of Tippecanoe County, United Way of Greater Lafayette, and contributions to Family Services, Inc.

ROLE OF PARENTS
Parents are required to meet with the Insight Group Facilitator before their child can enroll in Insight.  During this meeting, information about Insight will be provided to parents and an intake will be completed.  Parents and guardians play an integral role in the Insight program.  According to Jim Crowley, the founder of Insight, “the more parents help in the Insight process, the greater the chance that the program will succeed with participants.”
