Introducing the new Management Team

The Family Services, Inc. Board of Directors has asked the agency's Director of Finance Tony Johnson, Director of Client Services Tari Alper, Ph.D., LMHC, and Coordinator for Special Events and Fundraising Mike Warner to act as an interim management team.

Prior to joining Family Services, Inc., Tony Johnson had been the Director of Finance and Administration at Indiana Health Council since 2004, and, before that, an auditor with the U.S. Department of Labor for 14 years.  Johnson lives in Clinton County with his two teenagers, Siberian Husky and two spoiled cats.  He enjoys spending his free time outdoors canoeing, fishing and golfing.

Tari Alper had been with Family Services, Inc. as a clinician in 2006, then took a one year leave to become the Executive Director of New Directions, Inc., before returning to Family Services, Inc. earlier this year.  She lives in Fowler along with twenty-some rescued fish, birds, dogs and cats out in the country.  Tari is a certified animal rescue volunteer and a certified mental health and rescue disaster worker.  Dr. Alper is frequently deployed by FEMA for assistance and by Noah's Wish for animal rescue.

After many years of serving on various Family Services, Inc. committees as a volunteer, Mike Warner joined the agency as the Executive Assistant and Coordinator for Special Events and Marketing in 2006.  Warner has nearly 20 years of managerial experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors and a background in broadcast media.  He lives with his wife, Geri, along with two rescued Greyhounds and two rescued cats, in Lafayette.  He is also a Master Gardener and enjoys cruising and spending time in the Caribbean and Hawaii.

The mission of Family Services, Inc. remains the same as do the programs and services.  The Interim Managament Team will strive to serve individuals and families in our community with the same committment and passion that Susan Smith brought to the agency.  They will be working as a team to implement and execute everything necessary, within the agency and out in the community, to ensure that Family Services, Inc. continues to "help families help themselves" for generations to come.  The team's goal is to provide strong leadership, creative vision, an empowered and effective staff, programs needed in the community and services desired by our clients.

Program Spotlights

Family Services, Inc. adds Substance Abuse and Addiction Assessment to Counseling Services program.

Family Services, Inc. is proud to announce the addition of substance abuse assessment services to our Counseling Program.

In response to requests from judges, prosecutors, probation officers, defense attorneys, and addictions professionals in Tippecanoe and the seven surrounding counties, we are now offering computer-based ASI tests, and will soon also be offering the LSI-R test.  Scores indicating severity of substance abuse and likelihood of recidivism, in addition to a status report on each client, will be provided to the referral source.

As a result of a client’s test scores and/or compliance status which indicate a need for further services, a full clinical assessment may be ordered by the court or requested by a referral source to determine a person’s mental status and provide recommendations for additional services or treatment.

Offenders can also be monitored by our addictions counselor for compliance with court orders or other mandated requirements, and an appropriate written report will be sent to the original referral source regarding compliance.

For more information, feel free to contact our Director of Client Services, Tari Alper, Ph.D., LMHC, by phone or at tari@fsilafayette.org
